I found some old W3C documents (like test suites for CSS 1.0) on and IE3 loaded those like a champ.īut let's face it, IE3 is hideously obsolete. Google actually did let me load the homepage and perform a search. I had a lot of success with MSIE3, however! It loads pretty fast, and if you are able to find servers willing to serve documents over plain HTTP it actually works. I didn't investigate further, because it took ages to launch. Netscape 4.08 almost worked, but at some point in the process of displaying a page it would crash. It even took 15+ minutes to load about:blank, so let's call this one an utter failure. MSIE5 took 30 minutes to launch, attempt to connect to the default homepage (was either msn.com or, can't recall now), fail due to an unsupported SSL version, and then display the error page.
